Bidfident for roofing contractors
Estimating software for roofers
Roofing contractors use Bidfident to price a reroof by the square, from tear-off to membrane. Insulation goes up with a telehandler charged for its own hours, flashing and coping go in by the linear foot, and drains each. Dumpster bids sit side by side, and guardrails, a safety monitor and the foreman are priced by the week, following the job duration.

Sound familiar?
The telehandler charged all day
Insulation goes up to the roof in a few picks, but the spreadsheet charges the telehandler for every crew hour. In Bidfident the telehandler on a line can have its own hours per unit, so it's charged for the time it runs.
Safety costs that don't stretch with the job
Guardrails and a safety monitor are paid by the week, but in a spreadsheet they're typed in once and forgotten when the schedule grows. In Bidfident weekly items follow the job duration, part weeks included.
Membrane waste lost in the totals
Laps and cutoffs on a TPO membrane are a real cost, and they're easy to miss. In Bidfident each line carries its own waste percentage, so the membrane is priced with its waste and the insulation with its own.
How Bidfident fits your work

The telehandler for the hours it lifts
Give the telehandler on the insulation line its own hours per square and it's charged for that time, not for every hour the roofers are on the line.

Guardrails and safety by the week
Foreman, guardrails and a safety monitor by the week, linked to the job duration. Stretch a 6-week job to 7 and each linked item follows it.

Squares from tear-off to membrane
Tear-off, insulation and membrane by the square, flashing by the linear foot, drains each. Each line takes a quantity, the roofer's hours per unit, a material price with a waste percentage, and equipment by the hour.

Dumpster bids side by side
Enter each bid for dumpsters and hauling, see the lowest flagged, and carry it or the one you pick. Waiting on a number? Carry a plug.

Options kept, not counted
Price a thicker insulation or a different membrane color as an alternate. Switch it off and it stays on the sheet, struck through, with what it comes to shown beside the totals.

A reroof bid, to the cent
Contingency, fee, bond and insurance on top of the tear-off, insulation and membrane. Sales tax isn't added to the bid. Every amount is rounded to the cent, so the lines add up exactly.
Worked example: reroofing a low-slope warehouse
A made-up job, priced in Bidfident: 26 lines of your own work, 3 subs and 5 general conditions items over a 6-week job. The 5 lines this page talks about are listed one by one, and the rest are added up in one row. It's the same job you can open as an example project in Bidfident, so every figure below matches it.
To open this job in Bidfident: sign in and set up your company in the US, then on the Projects screen, under Example project, pick "Specialty contractors" and "Roofing" and press Add example project.

Questions
Can I price in squares?
Yes. Units are free text, so SQ, SF, LF and EA all work. Bidfident doesn't convert between units, so price each line in the unit its rate is in.
Can tear-off be a labor-only line?
Yes. Leave the material blank and the line is priced on the roofer's hours. Lines to check won't flag it for having no material, since the line still has a cost.
Can weekly safety costs follow the schedule?
Yes. Link a weekly or monthly general conditions item to the job duration and it follows it. The duration can include part weeks, such as 6.5.
Can I give a price with and without an option?
Yes. Switch the option's line off. It stays on the sheet, struck through, with what it comes to shown beside the totals, and the bid total leaves it out. Switch it back on to see the bid total with it. The amount beside the totals is its cost, before contingency, fee, bond and insurance.
Does it measure roof areas from drawings or maps?
No. Bidfident doesn't read quantities from drawings, plans or maps. Type your areas in, or paste them from a spreadsheet.
Can I carry a number for dumpsters before the bids come in?
Yes. Add dumpsters and hauling on the Subcontractors tab and carry a plug amount. When the bids arrive, enter them side by side and the lowest is flagged.
Does Bidfident work with Claude or ChatGPT?
Not yet, but it's coming. You'll be able to connect Bidfident to your own Claude or ChatGPT account and ask about your estimates in plain English. The answers will come from Bidfident's own figures, so they match the estimate. It will use the account you already have: Claude first, ChatGPT to follow.
