Bidfident

Bidfident for roofing subcontractors

Estimating software for roofers

Roofing contractors use Bidfident to price a flat roof replacement by the square metre, from strip-out to membrane. Insulation goes up with a telehandler charged for its own hours, flashings and coping go in by the metre, and outlets by number. Skip quotes sit side by side, and edge protection, a stair tower and supervision are priced by the week, following the programme.

Sound familiar?

  • The telehandler charged all day

Insulation goes up to the roof in a few lifts, but the spreadsheet charges the telehandler for every gang hour. In Bidfident the plant on a line can have its own hours per unit, so it's charged for the time it runs.

  • Safety costs that don't stretch with the programme

Edge protection and a stair tower are hired by the week, but in a spreadsheet they're typed in once and forgotten when the programme grows. In Bidfident weekly items follow the job duration, part weeks included.

  • Membrane waste lost in the totals

Laps and offcuts on a single-ply membrane are a real cost, and they're easy to miss. In Bidfident each line carries its own waste percentage, so the membrane is priced with its waste and the insulation with its own.

How Bidfident fits your work

  • Bidfident screenshot: the telehandler for the hours it lifts

The telehandler for the hours it lifts

Give the telehandler on the insulation line its own hours per square metre and it's charged for that time, not for every hour the roofers are on the line.

Edge protection and safety by the week

Supervision, edge protection and a stair tower by the week, linked to the job duration. Stretch a 6-week programme to 7 and each linked item follows it.

Square metres from strip-out to membrane

Strip-out, insulation and membrane by the square metre, flashings by the metre, outlets by number. Each line takes a quantity, the roofer's hours per unit, a material price with a waste percentage, and plant by the hour.

Enter each quote for skips and waste removal, see the lowest flagged, and carry it or the one you pick. Waiting on a quote? Carry an allowance.

    Options kept, not counted

Price a thicker insulation or a different membrane colour as an alternative. Switch it off and it stays on the sheet, struck through, with what it comes to shown beside the totals.

  • Bidfident screenshot: from roof cost to tender, to the penny

From roof cost to tender, to the penny

Contingency, overheads and profit, bond and insurance on top of the strip-out, membrane, flashings and skips, with VAT shown apart for reference. Every amount is rounded to the penny, so the lines add up exactly.

Questions

Can I price in square metres and metres?

Yes. Units are free text, so m², m, nr and item all work. Bidfident doesn't convert between units, so price each line in the unit its rate is in.

Can strip-out be a labour-only line?

Yes. Leave the material blank and the line is priced on the roofer's hours. Lines to check won't flag it for having no material, since the line still has a cost.

Can weekly safety costs follow the programme?

Yes. Link a weekly or monthly preliminaries item to the job duration and it follows it. The duration can include part weeks, such as 6.5.

Can I give a price with and without an option?

Yes. Switch the option's line off. It stays on the sheet, struck through, with what it comes to shown beside the totals, and the tender total leaves it out. Switch it back on to see the tender total with it. The amount beside the totals is its cost, before contingency, overheads and profit, bond and insurance.

Does it measure roof areas from drawings or maps?

No. Bidfident doesn't read quantities from drawings, plans or maps. Type your areas in, or paste them from a spreadsheet.

Can the membrane and the insulation carry different waste?

Yes. Every line has its own waste percentage, so the single-ply membrane can carry 8% for laps and offcuts, and the PIR insulation 3%.

Does Bidfident work with Claude or ChatGPT?

Not yet, but it's coming. You'll be able to connect Bidfident to your own Claude or ChatGPT account and ask about your estimates in plain English. The answers will come from Bidfident's own figures, so they match the estimate. It will use the account you already have: Claude first, ChatGPT to follow.
