Bidfident for environmental remediation contractors
Estimating software for environmental remediation
Remediation bids turn on cubic yards of soil. In Bidfident you price contaminated soil excavation and clean backfill by the CY, give the excavator and the vibratory roller their own hours, and add UST removals by the EA and water treatment as a lump sum. Soil hauling and confirmation sampling go in as subs, and the superintendent and environmental monitoring follow the schedule by the week.

Sound familiar?
Soil hauling is the biggest number, and the hardest to compare
Hauling and disposal of contaminated soil can be most of the job, and the bids arrive in different shapes. In Bidfident each bid sits side by side, the lowest is flagged and carried, and you can carry a plug number until the bids are in.
Backfill without the extra
Clean granular fill always takes more than the hole, and spreadsheets bury the allowance in a formula nobody checks. In Bidfident each line's material has a waste percentage in plain view, so the extra 10% is there for anyone to see.
Monitoring that outlasts the estimate
The dig runs a week longer than planned, but the environmental monitoring line still shows the old number of weeks. In Bidfident weekly items linked to the job duration follow it, part weeks included.
How Bidfident fits your work

Soil hauling and testing side by side
Enter each bid for contaminated soil hauling and disposal, and for confirmation sampling. The lowest is flagged and carried unless you pick another.

Excavator and roller at their own hours
Give the excavator its own hours per CY dug, and the vibratory roller its own hours per CY placed. Each is charged for the hours it runs.

Super and monitoring by the week
Link the superintendent and environmental monitoring to the job duration. Stretch the job from 5 weeks to 5.5 and both follow.

Over-excavation kept as an alternate
Price a possible over-dig or a third tank as an alternate. It stays on the sheet struck through, with its cost before markups shown beside the totals, and isn't counted in the bid.

The bid in view as quantities change
Change the cubic yards of soil and the bid total at the top shows how much it moved, right away.

Earlier versions of the estimate kept
Quantities change as testing comes back. Compare any saved version with now, and restore an earlier one with a click.

The 4 lines this page talks about are listed one by one, and the rest are added up in one row. It's the same job you can open as an example project in Bidfident, so every figure below matches it.

Questions
Can I price soil by the ton as well as the cubic yard?
You can use either unit on a line, since units are free text. Bidfident doesn't convert between them, so price each line in the unit its rate is in.
Can I carry soil hauling before the bids are in?
Yes. Carry a plug number for the sub, then enter the bids as they come in and carry the lowest or the one you pick.
Can each machine have its own hours?
Yes. Each line's equipment can have its own hours per unit. Leave it blank and it runs for the crew's hours.
Can I add a waste factor to backfill?
Yes. Each line's material has a waste percentage, and the total includes it.
Can water treatment go in as a lump sum?
Yes. Use LS as the unit with a quantity of 1, and put the hours and materials for the treatment system on that line.
Does it read quantities from site plans or maps?
No. You enter the quantities yourself, from your own measurements or the consultant's report.
Does Bidfident work with Claude or ChatGPT?
Not yet, but it's coming. You'll be able to connect Bidfident to your own Claude or ChatGPT account and ask about your estimates in plain English. The answers will come from Bidfident's own figures, so they match the estimate. It will use the account you already have: Claude first, ChatGPT to follow.
