Bidfident

Bidfident for hazardous materials contractors

Estimating software for hazardous materials removal

Hazmat abatement mixes square feet and single pieces on the same job. Price lead paint removal on structural steel by the SF with a vacuum blasting unit at its own hours, PCB ballasts and fluorescent lamps by the EA, and mold remediation by the SF. Bidfident carries hazardous waste disposal as a sub, keeps air monitoring in step with the schedule, and adds bonding and insurance on top.

Sound familiar?

  • Lead, PCBs and mold on one sheet

Each hazard has its own unit, crew hours and supplies, and a spreadsheet built for one gets bent to fit the rest. In Bidfident every line carries its own unit, hours per unit and material, and the cost report totals each cost code, so every hazard shows its own number.

  • Counting fixtures by the hundred

Hundreds of ballasts and over a thousand lamps, priced by hand with a calculator beside the sheet. In Bidfident you type the count, the hours and the price per piece, and the line totals as you go.

  • Blasting equipment over-charged

The vacuum blasting unit doesn't run every hour the crew is on the steel, but a single row charges it as if it did. In Bidfident the unit gets its own hours per unit, apart from the crew's.

Vacuum blasting at its own hours

Give the blasting unit its own hours per square foot of steel, so it's charged for the time it runs, not the crew's.

Questions

Can I price ballasts and lamps by the piece?

Yes. Use EA as the unit, with hours and a price per piece. Units are free text.

Can lead paint, PCBs and mold have their own cost codes?

Yes. Start from the MasterFormat cost codes a US company begins with, or paste your own list in from Excel or QuickBooks with a preview first.

Can I see what each hazard costs on its own?

Yes. The cost report totals each cost code under its division, and you can copy the whole estimate by cost code as CSV.

Can I price mold remediation as an alternate?

Yes. Switch the line off as an alternate. It stays on the sheet struck through, and its cost before markups is shown beside the totals, but it isn't in the bid.

Does it count fixtures from the drawings?

No. Bidfident doesn't read quantities from drawings or plans. You enter the counts yourself.

If my abatement worker rate goes up, does a bid I've sent change?

No. A submitted bid keeps the labor and equipment rates it was priced with, so raising the abatement worker or blasting unit rate in your library doesn't move a price you've already sent.

Does Bidfident work with Claude or ChatGPT?

Not yet, but it's coming. You'll be able to connect Bidfident to your own Claude or ChatGPT account and ask about your estimates in plain English. The answers will come from Bidfident's own figures, so they match the estimate. It will use the account you already have: Claude first, ChatGPT to follow.
