Bidfident for hazardous materials contractors
Estimating software for hazardous materials removal
Hazardous materials work mixes square metres and single pieces on the same job. Price lead paint removal on steel by the m² with a vacuum blasting unit at its own hours, PCB ballasts and mercury tubes by the ea, and mould remediation by the m². Bidfident carries hazardous waste disposal as a subtrade, keeps air monitoring in step with the schedule, and adds bonding and insurance on top.

Sound familiar?
Lead, PCBs and mould on one sheet
Each hazard has its own unit, crew hours and supplies, and a spreadsheet built for one gets bent to fit the rest. In Bidfident every line carries its own unit, hours per unit and material, and the cost report totals each cost code, so every hazard shows its own figure.
Counting fixtures by the hundred
Hundreds of ballasts and over a thousand tubes, priced by hand with a calculator beside the sheet. In Bidfident you type the count, the hours and the price per piece, and the line totals as you go.
Blasting equipment over-charged
The vacuum blasting unit doesn't run every hour the crew is on the steel, but a single row charges it as if it did. In Bidfident the unit gets its own hours per unit, apart from the crew's.
How Bidfident fits your work

A total for each hazard
The cost report totals lead paint, PCB ballasts, mercury tubes and mould by cost code under each division. Filter by area or cost type, and click a row to jump to it.

Vacuum blasting at its own hours
Give the blasting unit its own hours per square metre of steel, so it's charged for the time it runs, not the crew's.

Ballasts and tubes from your library
Type a description and pick a task, material or assembly from your rate library, with its price, to fill the line.

One rate library for every hazard
Keep abatement worker rates, blasting equipment, supplies and tasks with hours per unit in one company library. Every estimate uses it.

Monitoring and supervision by the week
Air monitoring and the abatement supervisor by the week, linked to the job duration. A 4-week job that becomes 5 picks up the extra week.

Hazardous waste carriers compared
Enter each carrier's bid for transport and disposal, see the lowest flagged, and carry it or the one you pick.
Worked example: lead paint, PCB ballasts and mould at a vacant warehouse
A made-up job, priced in Bidfident: 25 lines of your own work, 4 subtrades and 6 overhead items over a 4-week job. The 4 lines this page talks about are listed one by one, and the rest are added up in one row. It's the same job you can open as an example project in Bidfident, so every figure below matches it.
To open this job in Bidfident: sign in and set up your company in Canada, then on the Projects screen, under Example project, pick "Demolition and abatement" and "Hazardous materials" and press Add example project.

Questions
Can I price ballasts and tubes by the piece?
Yes. Use ea as the unit, with hours and a price per piece. Units are free text.
Can lead paint, PCBs and mould have their own cost codes?
Yes. Start from MasterFormat titles, or paste your own list in from Excel or QuickBooks with a preview first.
Can I see what each hazard costs on its own?
Yes. The cost report totals each cost code under its division, and you can copy it as CSV.
Can I price mould remediation as an option?
Yes. Switch the line off as an alternate. It stays on the sheet struck through, and its amount is shown beside the totals, but it isn't in the bid.
Does it count fixtures from the drawings?
No. Bidfident doesn't read quantities from drawings or plans. You enter the counts yourself.
If my abatement worker rate goes up, does a bid I've sent change?
No. A submitted bid keeps the labour and equipment rates it was priced with, so raising the abatement worker or blasting unit rate in your library doesn't move a price you've already sent.
Does Bidfident work with Claude or ChatGPT?
Not yet, but it's coming. You'll be able to connect Bidfident to your own Claude or ChatGPT account and ask about your estimates in plain English. The answers will come from Bidfident's own figures, so they match the estimate. It will use the account you already have: Claude first, ChatGPT to follow.
